PULASKI, Tenn. (3/3) -Victoria Spindor of Mid-Continent (Ky.) and Britney Caldwell of Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) have been selected this week's TranSouth Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively for the week ending March 1, 2009. Spindor, a 5-foot-8 freshman from Campbell River, B.C., Canada pitched a five-inning perfect game, retiring 11 of Lane's 15 batters on strikeouts, and also was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. In game two, playing first base, Spindor was 1-for-3 with a run scored and fielded all five chances without error.
  
Spindor is hitting .348 for the season with two doubles and one home run and a team-best seven RBI and is 2-1 on the mound with one perfect-game shutout to her credit plus 18 strikeouts and just seven walks in 19-2/3 innings and a 4.27 earned-run average. Mid-Continent played just one doubleheader last week and won both games against Lane College, 12-0 and 9-1, improving its season record to 5-4.
 
Caldwell, a 5-foot-9 junior pitcher from Dickson, Tenn. set a Freed-Hardeman softball school record for most RBI in one game. She hit two three run homeruns against Cumberland University last week recording six RBI with the blasts, she was 3-for-3 in the first game of the double-header also hitting a double. Caldwell hit .667 in the two games with a slugging percentage of 1.833. The Lions were 2-0 on the week two wins over Cumberland, they are 3-3 overall.
