JACKSON, Tenn. - Andrew Maddox of Bethel (Tenn.) College and Cliff Hardy of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College have been named the TranSouth Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week ending March 8, 2009.
 

Maddox, a 6-foot-3 senior third baseman from Huntingdon, Tenn., set career highs in Bethel's three game series with Lyon (Ark.) College. Maddox was 10-for-14 in the series with 11 RBI, three homeruns, three runs, and a double. He posted six RBI and two homerus in one game versus Lyon. Maddox hit .556 (10-18) for the week and had a slugging percentage of 1.111. Bethel went 1-3 on the week and is now 6-10 on the season and 1-2 in the TranSouth.

 
Hardy, a 6-foot senior pitcher from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., took a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning in a 3-0 win over receiving votes, Union (Tenn.) University. Hardy tossed a complete game, going seven innings and allowing just the one hit with four strikeouts. His win was the lone win for Martin Methodist on the week as the team posted a 1-3 record. On the year, Martin Methodist is 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the TranSouth.
