JACKSON, Tenn. - Jonathan Keck of Bethel (Tenn.) College and Tim Dunn of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University have been named the TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week ending March 15, 2009.
Keck, a 6-foot-6 junior first baseman from Lexington, Tenn., posted a career high nine RBI in Bethel's 20-6 win over NCAA DII Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University. He also posted four RBI in a TranSouth series win at No. 15 Cumberland (Tenn.) University to put the Wildcats at 3-1 on the week. In the four games, Keck hit .471 (8-17) with 13 RBI, three homeruns, and six runs. He also added one double and one walk on the week, while slugging 1.059 in his four games. Keck posted at least one hit and one RBI in each game, while scoring at least one run in three of the four games. Bethel is now 9-11 on the season and 3-3 in league play.
Dunn, a 6-foot-2 junior pitcher from Bardwell, Ky., posted a 1-0 record for the week as his Trojans when 3-2 in their five games. Dunn tossed a complete game in the win at Mid-Continent (Ky.) University with nine strikeouts. In his seven innings, he allowed just one run on five hits. Dunn also tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowing no runs and just one hit, versus No. 2 Lee (Tenn.) University. On the week, Dunn tossed 7.2 innings, allowing just six hits and one run with 10 strikeouts. Dunn is 6-0 on the season, while Trevecca Nazarene is 15-10 overall and 5-1 in the TranSouth.
