PULASKI, Tenn. - Alicia Boris and Nicole Curtis of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) earn TranSouth Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively for the week ending March 15, 2009.
Boris, a senior third-baseman from Knoxville, Tenn. had a great week at the plate for the RedHawks highlighted by going 4-for-4 against Thomas University (Ga.) on the final day of the Gulf Coast Invitational in Orange Beach, Ala. She hit .480 on the week with a .680 slugging percentage. She had 12 hits including a homerun and two doubles. She scored eight runs and had seven RBI. Alicia was perfect on the hot corner last week with six put-outs and eight assists.
Curtis, a junior pitcher from Chapel Hill, Tenn. went 2-1 on the mound for the RedHawks last week. Recording wins over Huntingdon College (Ala.) and Thomas University. Nicole had no earned runs and gave up only five hits against Huntingdon while pitching a three hit shut-out in the RedHawks 9-0 victory over Thomas. She had an ERA of 1.72 in 20.1 innings of work with 10 strike outs.
Martin Methodist went 3-and-4 on the week with wins over Huntingdon College, NAIA No. 14 Houston-Victoria and Thomas University. The RedHawks record improves to 14-5 overall.
