PULASKI, Tenn. (3/23) - Chrissy Worth and Sally Gale have been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the week respectively for the week ending March 22, 2009.
Worth, a freshman pitcher and outfielder from Lewisburg, Tennessee helped Martin Methodist to a 7-1 week. She was .500 at the plate with eight extra base hits including three homeruns, two triples and three doubles. Worth tallied 12 RBI and scored 14 runs. She was also had two wins as a pitcher last week for the RedHawks with a 8-0 shut out of Cumberland University and a 9-1 win over the University of Virginia-Wise.
Gale, a senior pitcher from Knoxville, Tennessee had four of the seven wins and no losses in the circle for the RedHawks last week. She had wins over TranSouth Conference rivals Trevecca Nazarene University, Cumberland University as well as wins over NAIA RV Robert Morris University and NAIA No. 20 Madonna University. Gale had an ERA of .73 with 23 strike-outs in 28.2 innings pitched. She pitched a one hitter against Cumberland University and shut down No. 20 Madonna University only allowing two hits in seven complete innings of work.
The RedHawks improved to 21-6 overall with the seven wins last week and are currently ranked No. 13 in the NAIA.
