PULASKI, Tenn. - Union (Tenn.) University's swept the TranSouth Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the week ending March 21, 2010. Amber Hayes was named Player of the Week, while Brooke Thomas was named Pitcher of the Week.
 
Hayes, a junior short-stop from Brighton, Tennessee and helped Union to a 4-0 week, including a sweep over No. 8 Martin Methodist (Tenn.). She had at least one hit and one run in all four games for the Bulldogs last week. Hayes was 4-for-8 with two doubles, four runs scored and four RBI in the sweep over MMC. This is Hayes' second time being selected the TranSouth Player of the Week.
 

Thomas, a freshman pitcher from Huntingdon, Tennessee went 3-0 with 15.2 innings pitched on the week. She recorded both wins in the Bulldogs sweep over No. 8 Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Thomas struck out 12 hitters in 10.2 innings, allowing only one earned run on five total hits. She also recorded a win over Hannibal-LaGrange where she struck out eight batters in five innings. Thomas is 10-4 on the season.

 
Union now has a record of 4-0 over top-25 teams and is 5-1 over teams ranked or receiving votes. The Bulldogs are receiving votes in the NAIA and have a 17-7 overall record.
