Mid-Continent team members worked as msrshals at local soccer tournament, March 27-28
MAYFIELD, Ky. - Eleven Mid-Continent University men's soccer players and new head coach David Oesch and volunteer assistant coach Alex Walandro recently performed volunteer community participation as field marshals for the Jackson Purchase Invitational Tournament from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for two days.

The club team tournament, held March 27-28 at Hamilton Soccer Complex in Mayfield, featured boys and girls under 8 through under 17 years teams mainly from Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, and Louisiana.

MCU players were placed in charge of all field operations, both prior to and after matches. Their duties ranged from recording scores to observing matches and making certain that officials reported to the correct fields at the correct times and checking in each player from each team. Team member volunteered in order to support local soccer in the western Kentucky region and establish positive community relations.

Coach Oesch says, "Mid-Continent soccer performed extremely well last weekend and were very respectful and supportive of visiting players and coaches. MCU is trying to build Cougars of character, and these men clearly demonstrated it.  I am extremely proud of the team and know that the Graves County Soccer Association really appreciated their efforts as well. I am looking to build a stronger relationship with the association."
