NASHVILLE, Tenn. - With last Saturday's win over host Mt. Vernon
Nazarene in the championship game of the A+ Autobrokers Holiday
Invitational, Trevecca men's basketball coach Sam Harris became the
school's all-time winningest men's basketball coach.
The victory
was Harris' 286th at the helm of the Trojan program, one more than Frank
Wilson, who was recently inducted into the Trojan Athletic Hall of
Fame. Harris played for Wilson at Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University and
later replaced him as the Trevecca men's basketball coach.
Harris
is now 286-265 in his 18th season at Trevecca, with four NAIA National
Tournament appearances and two TranSouth Championships. He has had four
players selected as NAIA All-Americans and eight named Honorable Mention
All-Americans. Two of Harris' former players have been elected to the
Trojan Athletic Hall of Fame, and two others have been named TranSouth
Player of the Year. Harris has 447 wins overall in his coaching career.
Trevecca's next game is Saturday afternoon, when they host Fisk University (3-8) at 4 p.m.
