NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kristin Archie of
Trevecca Nazarene University is this weeks TranSouth Athletic
Conference women's basketball player of the week for the week ending
Sunday, December 18, 2006.
Archie, a 5'6" sophomore guard from Mount Juliet, Tenn., helped No. 4
Trevecca to a 2-0 week and kept Trevecca's record setting season
opening win streak alive at 14-0. Archie, who prepped at Father Ryan
High School in Nashville, had 19 points in Trevecca's 78-73 overtime
win over Grace College in the Nationwide Classic at Cumberland
University in Lebanon, Tenn. Archie was 8-of-13 from the field and hit
2-of-3 from three-point range. In Trevecca's 81-49 win over Illinois
Tech Archie scored 15 points while dishing out six assists and produced
three steals and hit 6-of-9 from the field and all three free throw
attempts. For the week the former Miss Tennessee Basketball finalist
averaged 17 points, 1.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game
during week and hit 14-of-22 (64%) from the field, 2-of-5 (40%) from
three-point range, and 4-of-5 (80%) from the foul line.
Trevecca is currently on a 14 game win streak and have started the
season with 14 wins. Trevecca is currently ranked No. 4 in the NAIA,
which equals their highest ranking in the 10 year history of the
program. The 2002-03 team was ranked No. 4 in early January 2003.
