NASHVILLE, Tenn –Deshawn Danzey of Crichton College is this weeks
TranSouth Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week for
the week ending Sunday, January 1, 2006. This is the second time Danzey
has been selected this season.
Danzey, a 6'6" junior forward from
Abbeville, Ala., helped the 9-4 Comets to a perfect 2-0 record with two
wins this week in the Trojan Boosters Endowment Classic at Trevecca. In
the Comets 70-52 victory over Belhaven College Danzey produced his
first of two double-doubles with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Danzey was
3-for-9 from the field, 0-of-2 three-point, and 5-of-5 from the foul
line. In the TranSouth newcomers 97-85 win over Indiana Wesleyan Danzey
scored 25 points and added 10 rebounds and three steals. Danzey hit
9-of-13 from the field, 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point arch and
3-of-3 from the foul line. For the week Danzey averaged 18 points, 12
rebounds, 1.5 assists while hitting 12-of-22 (55%) from the field,
4-of-7 (57%) from three-point range, and 8-of-8 (100%) from the foul
line.
Crichton joined the NAIA a year ago and then was accepted to the
TranSouth shortly thereafter and started full conference membership and
competition in the fall of 2005.
