/images/2010-11/MG-2011-TSAC-Champs-Union.jpgBLYTHEVILLE, Ark - The 2011 TranSouth Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship, a 54-hole Championship event, is set to be played at the Blytheville Country Club. The course will play to a par of 71 over 6601 yards. The championship will be played May 5-6, it was originally scheduled for May 2-3, but weather delayed the start.
The Blytheville Country Club was established in 1929 by Everett B. Gee. In 1949 members of The Blytheville Country Club purchased the leasehold on the property from Everett Gee.
Shortly after the 1949 conversion of the club ownership to its members, the course underwent a complete rerouting and rebuilding as well as a conversion to grass greens. The work was overseen by infamous golf course architect Dick Wilson. Wilson designed numerous golf courses on the eastern seaboard, principally in Florida.
The Blytheville Country Club has always enjoyed the services of a full-time golf pro aiding to its placing two BCC golfers as the first golf letterman at the University of Arkansas.
