JACKSON, Tenn. - The 2011 TranSouth Conference Baseball Tournament is set to begin on Monday, May 2 and go through Thursday, May 5. The four-day event will take place at Fesmire Field on the campus of Union University in Jackson, Tenn.

Cumberland (Tenn.) University enters the event as the defending champions and are the top-seed for the third straight season. Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University is the second seed after missing the event in 2010. Union, last season's runner-up, is the third seed, while Martin Methodist (Tenn.) earns the fourth seed, Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) is the fifth seed and Bethel (Tenn.) is the sixth seed.

Since the first TranSouth Tournament in 1997, the 14 tournament titles have been claimed by five different teams, including Cumberland (6), Birmingham-Southern (4), Union (2), Trevecca Nazarene (1) and Berry (1). The TranSouth has had three tournament champions to move on to win the NAIA World Series title, Birmingham-Southern (2001) and Cumberland (2004, 2010).
