JACKSON, Tenn. - The 2011 TranSouth Conference Cross Country Championships was completed Saturday, October 29 on the campus of Union University in Jackson, Tenn. This marked the third straight season for Union to be the host for the cross country championships.

The postseason awards, including scholar athletes, all-conference, individual awards and championship banners, were also presented at the luncheon following the races.

On the women's side, Union claimed their ninth straight conference title. Blue Mountain (Miss.) College finished second, Bethel University finished third, and Freed-Hardeman finished fourth. Allison Martin of Union was named the TranSouth Runner of the Year, LaTifa Swims of Blue Mountain was named the TranSouth Newcomer of the Year, and Gary Johnson of Union was named the TranSouth Coach of the Year. Martin, Swims, Audrey Hazelhurst (Union), Sloan Scott (Freed-Hardeman), Kelsea Hendrix (Blue Mountain), Lilli Harmon (Union), and Tuesdae Rowland (Blue Mountain) were named to the TranSouth All-Conference team.

On the men's side, Union claimed their eighth straight conference title. Blue Mountain finished second, Bethel finished third, and Freed-Hardeman finished fourth. Alex Bett of Union was named the TranSouth Runner of the Year, Lucas Peiser of Union was named the TranSouth Newcomer of the Year, and Gary Johnson of Union was named the TranSouth Coach of the Year. Bett, Austin Epting (Blue Mountain), Zach Covington (Union), Richard Feist (Blue Mountain), Emmanuel Tavares (Bethel), Nelphat Bor (Bethel) and Drake Ott (Union) were named to the TranSouth All-Conference team.
