NORTH CANTON, Ohio – NAIA No. 25 Trevecca women’s golf team overcame a three
stroke deficit after day one of the Walsh University Fall Invitational,
to win the tournament at the Sanctuary Golf Course. Last year the team
finished second, after leading after day one. Trevecca finished with a
total team score of 628 (346-336) defeating tournament host Walsh
University, who posted a 689 (343-346). Tiffin University shot a team
score of 712 (355-357), Malone College finished fourth with a score of
713 (355-358), and Ohio Dominican rounded out the top five, shooting a
team total of 722 (367-355).
Individually, Jen Trow of Tiffin
University carded a final round 79 after an opening round 74, to take
the tournament medalist honors with a two-day total of 153. Sara Duke
of Ohio Dominican shot a 165 (84-81) to finish second, Malone’s Heather
Grovemiller carded a 166 (85-81) and finished third, Trevecca’s Mindy
Seigenthaler finished fourth at 168 (81-87), and Jessica Garcia of
Tiffin rounded out the all-tournament team, finishing fifth with a 169
(85-84). Noel Moffett finished in a tie for sixth at 170 (88-82), Abby
Goodrich finished tenth with a two-day total of 174 (92-82), and Betsy
Beaver finished 12th, firing a 176 (85-91). Koriann Reed shot a 183
(98-85), and Jenny Mercer shot a 204 (105-99) to round out the Trojans
in the field. Six teams and 38 individuals competed in the two day
tournament.
The Trojans continue their fall schedule Monday and
Tuesday, October 9-10, when they travel to Burkesville, Ky. to take
part in the Lindsey Wilson College tournament.
