NASHVILLE, Tenn – The TranSouth Athletic Conference and NAIA Region XI have released their weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, October 14, 2007.
J.W. Hunt of Lambuth University has been named the TranSouth and Region XI Offensive Player of the Week, while Hunter Jamison of Martin Methodist is the Defensive Player of the Week for both honors as well.
Hunt, a 5’9” senior forward from Covington, La., helped lead the Eagles to a 2-0 week with a pair of goals in a 3-2 win over Mid-Continent and an assist in the LU’s 2-0 win over Crichton College. His second goal in the Mid-Continent match was in overtime for the win. Lambuth is now in a three-way tie for first place in the TranSouth with a 6-1 record and are now 9-4-1 overall.
Jamison, a 5’9” sophomore goal keeper from Shelbyville, Tenn., helped lead the RedHawks to a 1-0-1 week and allowed just one goal over 200 minutes in goal. The lone goal was on the road at NCAA Division II Christian Brothers University. Jamison had a shutout against TranSouth foe Cumberland University. He had 10 saves on the week with five in each match. The RedHawks are currently in fifth place in the TranSouth with a 5-3 record and are 8-4-1 overall.
