NASHVILLE, Tenn – The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released its weekly women’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, October 21, 2007.
Sarah Ruegger of Lyon College has been named the TranSouth Offensive Player of the Week, while Katie Moser of Union University is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Ruegger, a 5’5” junior forward from Gainesville, Fla., helped Lyon to a 2-0 week with seven goals and 14 points on the week. She had five goals in a 13-0 win over Crichton College and another two goals in a 5-0 win over Lambuth University. Ruegger set a Lyon single season record for goals and points and is the career leader in both categories with her work this week. Lyon is 8-7-1 on the year and are 4-4 in conference play.
Moser, a 5’9” sophomore goalkeeper from Bartlett, Tenn., helped Union to a 2-1 week that included a 3-1 win over Bryan College. Union is now 12-4 on the season and Moser had two saves and allowed just one goal in the win. Union finished 3rd (6-2) which is their best conference finish ever. Union also set the record for most wins in a season with 12. This is the third season of varsity competition for the women's soccer team at Union.
