NASHVILLE, Tenn – The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released its weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007.
Lakenya Wrightsil of Martin Methodist was selected as the Player of the Week, Lisa Bundy of Martin Methodist was selected as the Libero of the Week and Sofia Zuluaga of Martin Methodist was chosen as the Setter of the Week.
Wrightsil and Zuluaga were honored at the NAIA Region XI level for their respective efforts during the week.
Additionally, Wrightsil was named the
NAIA Player of the Week.
Wrightsil, a 5-8, senior from Big Spring, Tex., sparked Martin Methodist to an undefeated 2-0 week, with wins over Union University and Cumberland. Wrightsil earned 46 kills (7.67 per game) in the two matches with a .494 kill pecentage. She also had 32 digs five aces and two solo blocks.
Bundy, a 5-2 freshman libero from Panama City, Fla., had a pefect 1.000 reception percentage, earned 24 digs and served one ace in six games for the Lady RedHawks.
Zuluaga, a 6-3 senior setter from Medellin, Columbia, picked up 71 assists, had 26 digs, 15 kills, five solo blocks and two aces in six games during Martin Methodist’s undefeated week.
