NASHVILLE, Tenn – The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released its weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007.
Brittney Ray of Trevecca Nazarene was selected as the Player of the Week, Cassi Hobbs of Union was selected as the Libero of the Week and Kelly Huff of Trevecca Nazarene was chosen as the Setter of the Week.
In addition, Hobbs was named the NAIA Region XI and NAIA National Libero of the Week. Ray and Huff also earned Region XI honors as well.
Ray, a 5-7, senior outside hitter from Colorado Springs, Colo., marshaled Trevecca Nazarene to an undefeated 2-0 week, with wins over Lambuth and Cumberland. Ray picked up 46 kills (5.1 per game) in the two matches with a .379 kill pecentage. She also had 51 digs (5.67 per game) and three aces.
Hobbs, a junior libero from Tulare, Calif., had a .959 reception percentage and earned 78 digs (9.75 per game) in a 2-0 week for the Lady Bulldogs. In Union’s win over TranSouth front-runner Freed Hardeman, Hobbs had 44 digs.
Huff, a 5-7 junior setter from Chesterfield, Mo., dished out 122 assists (13.6 per game), had 19 digs, two solo blocks, five assisted blocks and three aces during the Lady Trojans’ undefeated week.
