BATESVILLE, Ark. - The top-seeded Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions captured the TranSouth Conference Tournament Volleyball Championship on Saturday evening at Becknell Gym with a 3-0 victory over No. 2 seed Martin Methodist.

Freed-Hardeman (30-4), the regular season co-champion with Martin Methodist,  topped the Lady RedHawks 30-24, 30-22 and 31-29 in the tournament's championship game behind the play of Tournament MVP Karina Souza and all-tournament members Randal Prince and Martha Ray.

The Lady Lions steamrolled through the tournament field and did not lose a game in its four tournament matches, topping No. 8-seed Lambuth, No. 5-seed Union and Martin Methodist in the winner's bracket final en route to the conference tournament title.

Martin Methodist falls to 24-10 on the season and had Sofia Zuluaga and LaKenya Wrightsil named to the all-tournament team.
