CANTON, Ohio – Trevecca finished
in second (of 6) as a team and had two teammates share the tournament medalist
honors at the Walsh University Invitational at the Sanctuary Golf Course.
Trevecca posted a (349-352) 701 for the tournament and were seven strokes off
tournament champion Tiffin College (349-345) 694. The two-day total
of 701 is a Trevecca team record. As a team Trevecca was tied with Tiffin after the first day
of play.
Individually Trevecca’s junior
Mindy Seigenthaler (Franklin,
Tenn.) shared tournament medalist honors with teammate senior Kristi
Gearhart. Seigenthaler shot a (82-82) 164 as did Gearhart (81-83) 164 to claim
the dual victory. Gearhart’s 81 on the opening day of the tournament and two-day
total of 164 are her personal collegiate best scores. In addition to being
medalist, both players were named to the all-tournament team. There were 33
golfers in the tournament.
The other Trevecca golfers
competing in the tournament were junior Noel Moffett at (89-86) 175 in eighth
place, sophomore Jenny Mercer at (97-101) 198, and freshmen Erica Baldwin at
(DNF-121) 121.
Next up, the Trojans will host the
TNU Fall Invitational on October, 17-18 at the Through the Green Golf Course in
Joelton, Tenn.
