KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After being named the TranSouth Player of the Week, Matt Neaville of Union University (Tenn.) has been selected as the NAIA Men's Basketball Division I Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 18-24. This is the final Player of the Week for the 2007-08 season.

Neaville, a 6-0 junior guard from Urbana, Ill., tied a school record and set successive career-scoring highs in two wins last week for the Bulldogs. In the 92-82 win against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), Neaville went for a career-best 37 points shooting 9-of-21 from 3-point range. He added four rebounds and three assists. He countered that output with a Union season-high 38 points, including a school-record tying 10 treys. He went 13-of-27 overall and 10-of-22 from downtown in the 106-105 double overtime win at Crichton (Tenn.). He helped the Bulldogs halt a four-game slide.

For the week, Matt was 25-of-56 (.446) from the field including 19-of-43 (.442) from long range. He also was 6-of-8 (.750) on free throw attempts.

Both Union wins last week were against teams in the "receiving votes" category.

Among NAIA statistical leaders, Neaville ranks first among all players in 3-pointers made (4.8) and is second with a 24.1 scoring average. For more information on the NAIA statistical rankings, click here
