NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The TranSouth Athletic Conference released the 2007-2008 women’s basketball all-conference team and postseason awards. Union managed to come away from the regular season with all four of the top awards. Josephine Owino was named Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year was given to Kayla Hudson. Hudson was also awarded Newcomer of the Year and Mark Campbell earned Coach of the Year.

Josephine Owino, a 6’4” junior from Mombasa, Kenya, was named Transouth’s Player of the Week four times this season. Averaging 18.9 points a game with a season total of 556 points, Owino’s career has taken off. Owino also has pulled in some high NAIA ranks, including No. 1 in field goal percentage, No. 5 in blocks per game (2.185) and No. 11 in points per game.

Kayla Hudson, a 5’6” freshman guard from Gleason, Tenn., has made an impact her freshman year. Hudson ended the season with a 50.5% three-point total and an 85.6% free throw total. She leads the NAIA in assist/turnover ratio (4.69) and is ranked No.2 in assists per game (7.48).
