Jackson, TN - The Lambuth University Eagles beat the Trevecca Trojans Tuesday night 88-71 and captured the TranSouth Conference Tournament Title.  With the win the Eagles will head to Kansas City for the NAIA National Tournament. The pairings will be announced later today.

Lambuth led at halftime 42-38. The Eagles have not lost all season when leading at halftime. They are 28-0 when leading at the break.

 
Trevecca took a 50-47 lead and looked like they may  be on the way to upset the # 3 Eagles, but Glen Dandridge caught fire hitting four second half  three-pointers. His 3-pointer from far beyond the three-point line gave Lambuth a 57-56 lead and the Eagles would never trail again.

As usual, Jeremy Weddle and Trey Pearson were key members of the squad who refused to let Lambuth lose. Weddle has a game-high 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Pearson finished with 17 points and four assists. Both players  combined to hold Josh Helton to eight points. Helton  entered the game as Trevecca's leading scorer.
    
Lambuth is now 29-3 on the year. The Eagles have won 15 games in a row. They have won 43 of their last 46 games at home. Lambuth will enter the national tournament as the # 1 scoring team in the country. They average over 95 points per game. The Eagles have scored 80 or more points in 29 games this season. They are 28-1 in those contests. Lambuth has scored 90 or more points in 20 games this year. They are 19-1 in those games. Lambuth is 9-0 when scoring 100 or more points in a game this year.

Coach Kevin Burton is proud of what his team has accomplished this season, "We had three goals at the beginning of the season; we have already accomplished two of them. The regular season was a marathon, and the conference tournament was a sprint. The national championship is next. Our fans have been great and have made a difference."

Lambuth is one of four teams from the TranSouth Conference who will play in the national tournament. Joining the Eagles are Cumberland, Martin Methodist and Trevecca.
