Pulaski, Tenn. – Brittiany Johnson and Kacey Coonce from Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) have been selected as the TranSouth Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively for the week ending Sunday, March 23rd. In addition, Johnson was named the NAIA Region XI Pitcher of the Week.
Johnson, a senior pitcher from Pulaski, Tenn., was 2-1 on the week. She also recorded a save as she pitched a total of 20.10 innings. She struck out 27, and gave up only two earned runs to NAIA No. 6 University of Mobile (Ala.). Her two wins came against NCAA DII Armstrong Atlantic and Lambuth University.
Coonce, a junior shortstop from Herrin, Ill., played in all eight of the Trojans games last week helping them to a 6-2 week with wins over NCAA DI Savannah State(2), NCAA DII Armstrong Atlantic(2), and TranSouth Conference opponent Lambuth University(2). She hit .750 (18-24) on the week, with three homeruns, four doubles, 17 RBI, and 12 runs scored. She also had two stolen bases for the Trojans. Trevecca is currently 16-2 overall and 8-0 in the TranSouth.
