PULASKI, Tenn. – Kacey Coonce of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University was named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 20, 2008. Brittiany Johnson of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and Tarrah Tucker of Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University were name TranSouth Co-Pitchers of the week for the same period. Johnson and Coonce were selected as the NAIA Region XI honors as well.

Johnson has been the TranSouth Pitcher of the Week seven times this year and is being honored by Region XI for the fifth time. Coonce has been the TranSouth Player of the week twice and is being honored by Region XI for the first time. Johnson was named NAIA Pitcher of the Week earlier this season.


 
The TranSouth has four of the top five spots in the NAIA Region XI latest poll. Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University is in the top spot followed by Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College in second. Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University is in the fourth spot and Union (Tenn.) University rounds out the top five in the fifth spot.
 
Coonce, a 6-foot-0 junior from Goreville, Ill., helped Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University to a 6-0 week. She had two multiple home run games hitting three against Crichton (Tenn.) College and two more against Lyon (Ark.) College to finish the week with five homeruns. She also had two doubles, knocked in eight runs and scored 13 times. The NAIA No. 4 are Trojans currently 36-4 overall and are 27-1 in the TranSouth.
 
Johnson, a 5-foot-10 senior from Pulaski, Tenn., had a 6-0 week in the circle for the Trojans. She didn't allow an earned run all week while she struck out 27 batters in 18.2 innings of work. Johnson became just the third player in NAIA history to record 1,000 strike outs. She did so with her 6th strike out in the fourth inning of TNU's 10-1 win over Lambuth (Tenn.) University.
 
Tucker, a 5-foot-6 junior from Lyles, Tenn., went 3-0 for Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University on the mound including back to back wins as she pitched two full games of a double-header against Crichton (Tenn.) College. She pitched 21 innings and struck out 32. She only had two earned runs as the Lions had a 3-1 week. Freed-Hardeman is currently 26-12 and 18-10 in the TranSouth.
