NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Nazarene University head softball coach Ernie Reynolds has announced his resignation with plans to concentrate on his full-time business.

"I am proud to have been associated with such a fine group of scholar-athletes during the last four years," stated Reynolds. "I will always recall fondly my experiences at Trevecca, and I am grateful to my players and coaching staff, as well as our supporters, for their confidence and kindness."

In his four years at the helm, Reynolds guided the Trojans through the most successful stretch in the program's 17-year history. During his tenure, Trevecca qualified for three consecutive NAIA National Tournaments, won four TranSouth regular season championships, three TranSouth Tournament titles, and three NAIA Region-XI Tournaments. His teams also enjoyed four seasons of 35 or more victories, and the only two seasons of fewer than 10 losses in Trevecca history.

In his comments about Reynolds's resignation, Trevecca president Dan Boone noted, "Trevecca has been blessed by the exemplary leadership of Coach Ernie Reynolds. As a part-time coach, he has built a nationally recognized program. Coach Reynolds has championed the academic success of his players, as well as their performance on the field. The women who have taken the field under his leadership have made history and will be served throughout their lives by the lessons they've learned. We wish Ernie the best as he returns to his full-time business. Trevecca is grateful for his investment in our students."

Trevecca's Director of Athletics Brenda Patterson said, "Coach Ernie Reynolds has done a great job as the head softball coach here at Trevecca. His dedication and commitment to the program are best reflected in where he has taken this program during his tenure here at the university."

"He has distinguished himself as a highly respected coach among his peers and under his leadership TNU softball has become recognized as one of the premiere programs in the NAIA," Patterson added. "Reynolds has resigned his part-time position to have the ability to focus his time and energy to his highly landscaping business. He will be missed greatly, but we respect his decision."

As the head coach, Reynolds produced an overall record of 196-44 and was 83-15 in the TranSouth Athletic Conference.
