Truvillion
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Union University's Greg Truvillion has been named
the TranSouth Athletic Conference and NAIA Men's Basketball Player
of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 1, 2009. It's the fourth time this season for the Bulldog to win the TranSouth award and second time for the NAIA honor.
Truvillion, a 6'8"
junior forward from Lansing, Mich., led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week with
a pair of double-doubles. He scored 23 and grabbed 10 rebounds in a
78-75 win over Trevecca.
Truvillion added four assists, a block, and two steals while shooting 9-of-14 from the field. He played just 17 minutes in Union's 121-73 win over Blue Mountain and still produced a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. In their 89-75 win over Mid-Continent he added 28 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. He was 9-of-13 from the field and 9-of-12 from the foul line.
For the week
he averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and 2.7 steals while shooting 23-of-36 (64%) from the field and 16-of-20 (80%) from the foul line.
The Bulldogs are now 25-5 overall and won the TranSouth regular season title with a 14-2 record. Union is ranked No. 7 in the
latest NAIA Division 1 Men's Basketball Poll.
