INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The American Basketball
Association (ABA) has announced its 2009 All-Star Team and Special Awards. Former Trevecca
Nazarene University
standout Curtis Lewis was named the Rookie of the Year. "Choosing these
players was not easy," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "but thanks to the
help of some very knowledgeable people, I think we were able to come up with
the right selections. We have enormous talent in the ABA."
In addition
to being selected to the ABA Rookie of the Year, Lewis was selected to play for
the American Basketball Association (ABA) East All-Star Team in the ABA
All-Star Game that was played in Nashville
as part of a gala event that included the ABA Playoffs and Finals. Lewis
averaged more than 11 points per game during the season.
The former
NAIA Honorable Mention All-American was named an Honorable Mention selection to
the 2009 All-ABA Team.

Former
Trojans Marco Kandic, Eric Price, Jerod Perry, and Wes Poe are currently
playing professionally as well. Kandic is playing in Europe,
Price recently signed and is playing with a Latin American team, and Perry is
set to play with a developmental pro team out West. Poe played a few games with
Lewis on the Broncs roster late in the season and is now playing professionally
in China.
