HENDERSON, Tenn. - Diana Silva of Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week for the week ending Nov. 1, 2009.

Silva, a freshman outside hitter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, led the FHU offense in a week that saw the Lady Lions take on three opponents ranked in the NAIA's top 25. She had 19 kills, two aces, and eight digs in a 3-2 win over No. 23 Lindenwood (Mo.) University on the first day of the Bone Yard Brawl in Georgetown, Ky. She also had a week-high 24 kills and 11 digs in the Lady Lions' 3-2 loss to No. 16 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University.

For the week, Silva averaged 3.95 kills per game with an attack percentage of .332. She also averaged 2.1 digs per game and totaled five aces and 10 blocks in her five matches during the week.

Freed-Hardeman, which has clinched its third straight regular season conference championship, is 18-12 on the season and 11-2 in conference play.
