McKENZIE, Tenn. -- The No. 2-seed Martin Methodist RedHawks stunned the top-seed and defending NAIA Champion Bethel Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Friday in the championship finals of the TranSouth Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.
Sophomore forward Tiago Reichert scored both goals for Martin Methodist in the contest and helped the RedHawks (10-3-3) end Bethel's 31-match unbeaten streak. The Wildcats (14-1-3) had not been beaten since an Oct. 4, 2008 match with Berry College and were riding a 17-match unbeaten streak in 2009, coming into the championship match. The RedHawks' tournament title was their first since a 2004 tournament championship.
Daniel Green scored the only goal of the game for Bethel.
