NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Joshua Woodley of Mid-Continent University and Zack Frey of Freed-Hardeman University have been selected as the TranSouth Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 28, 2010.
Both were key factors in their teams finishing the regular season with three wins during the week to help their teams share second place in the final TranSouth regular season standings.
Woodley, 6-foo-2 senior guard from Lake Worth, Fla., averaged 21 points
per game on the week, that included two wins against Cumberland
University. In the first meeting with the Bulldogs Woodley scored 21
points by hitting 7-8 from 3-point range. In the second meeting he
scored 17 points and hit all four of his 3-point shots. On the week he
was 15-25 from beyond the arc.
Mid-Continent finished the regular season 19-11 and 12-4 in the
TranSouth. MCU has earned the #2 seed in the upcoming TranSouth
tournament. The Cougars were receiving votes for the NAIA Division 1
Men's Basketball Top 25 poll last week.
Frey, a 6-foot-8 senior center from Nashville, Tenn., averaged 26 points
and eight rebounds during the week. In all three games FHU played the
all-conference performer surpassed the 20 point mark. Against Lambuth he
scored 28 with a 10-17 performance from the field. He scored 27 in the
win over Lyon College, hitting 13-17 from the field. In the Lions win at
Bethel University he scored another 23 points and hit 9-20 from the
field.
For the week he hit 32-54 (59%) from the field.
Freed-Hardeman finished the season 20-10 overall and 12-4 in TranSouth
play. FHU was receiving votes in the latest NAIA Division 1 Men's
Basketball Top 25. The Lions are the #3 seed in the upcoming TranSouth
Tournament.
