NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The TranSouth Athletic Conference has selected Nina Djokovic of Bethel University as the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 28, 2010.
This the third player of the week honor for Djokovic this season. She was also selected on December 7, 2009 and February 16, 2010.
Djokovic, a 6-foot-1 senior forward from Belgrade, Serbia, led the
Wildcats to a pair of wins on the week and a tie for second place in the
final TranSouth women's basketball standings. The all-conference
performer averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, and two steals per game on
the week. Against Martin Methodist she posted 23 points and hit 9-14
from the field. In BU's upset win over #13 Freed-Hardeman, She produced a
double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
For the week she shot 16-27 (59%) from the field.
Bethel is now 20-9 on the year and ranked #20 in the latest NAIA
Division 1 Women's Basketball Top 25. The Wildcats will be the #3 seed
in the upcoming TranSouth women's basketball tournament.
