JACKSON, Tenn. - Cumberland (Tenn.) University's Troy Frazier and Shawn Schaefer have been named the TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 1, 2010.
Frazier, a 6-foot-1 senior from Louisville, Ky., helped Cumberland to a 4-0 week. He hit .643 (9-14) with seven runs, one double, two home runs and 11 RBI. Frazier added one walk and posted a slugging percentage of 1.143. He posted at least one hit and one run scored in all four games, while also recorded at least one RBI in three of the four games. Hit best game was a 4-for-4 game with three runs, a home run and five RBI in a 10-2 win over Viterbo. Frazier also added a grand slam on the week. Cumberland is now 8-1 on the season and is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA preseason rankings.
Schaefer, a 5-foot-11 senior left-hander from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, tossed a one-hitter in Cumberland win over Missouri Baptist. In the seven inning complete game, he gave up his one hit to the second batter of the game and did not allow a hit the rest of the way. He retired the side in order four times and finished with three strikeouts and two walks. Schaefer is 2-0 on the season.
