JACKSON, Tenn. - Chad Reynolds of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University and Shawn Schaefer of Cumberland (Tenn.) University have been named the TranSouth Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week ending March 7, 2010.
Reynolds, a 6-foot-1 junior third baseman from Santa Maria, Calif., helped the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene to a 4-0 week. Reynolds hit .615 with eight hits in 13 at bats. He totaled five runs, two doubles, two triples and 10 RBI on the week. Reynolds also added two walks and was 1-for-1 in stolen bases, while slugging 1.077. He recorded at least two hits and on run in all four games. Trevecca Nazarene (10-5) is receiving votes in the NAIA preseason rankings.
Schaefer, a 5-foot-11 senior left-hander from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, earned the pitcher of the week honor for the second straight week. He tossed a complete game in a win over No. 3 Oklahoma City University. In his seven innings, he allowed just two unearned runs on six hits while striking out eight batters in his team's 6-2 win. This marked the third straight victory for Schaefer (3-0), helping the Cumberland Bulldogs to a 12-2 record. Cumberland is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA preseason rankings.
