LEBANON, Tenn. - A half-dozen teams from both the TranSouth Athletic Conference and the Mid-South Conference met up at Cumberland University's Dallas Floyd Recreation Center for TranSouth/Mid-South Volleyball Classic this weekend and the TSAC proved to be the stronger conference, taking home wins in 16 of the 24 matches. 
All of the contests featured one opponent from each conference with every team playing four matches.

 

The TranSouth was represented by Bethel, Cumberland, Martin Methodist, Mid-Continent, Trevecca Nazarene and Union, while Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson, Rio Grande, Shawnee State, St. Catharine and the University of the Cumberlands played on behalf of the Mid-South.

 

Each conference had a team that won all of its matches - Shawnee State and Union - while only the Mid-South had winless teams - Rio Grande, St. Catharine College and University of the Cumberlands.

 

On the first day, the TranSouth won nine of the 12 matches and no TSAC team suffering multiple losses.

 

Shawnee State led all teams with a .315 hitting percentage, while Martin Methodist and Cumberland finished at .249 and .244, respectively.

 

Campbellsville earned the most points from the service line, recording 33 aces. Shawnee State tallied 28 and Trevecca netted 27.

 

Cumberland recorded the most blocks with 28, while the University of the Cumberlands and Union followed with 25 and 23, respectively.

 

Individually, Thaise Vieira of Bethel finished with the most kills 4.67 per set (70 total), while Shawnee State's Haley Halcomb had the best assists-per-set tally (11.42). Campbellsville's Samantha Jones had the most service aces with 12, while Vieira and Cumberland's Angelyn Stanton posted .93 blocks per set.
