PULASKI, Tenn. For the third time this
season the NAIA No. 5 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions defeated the NAIA
No. 7 Union University Lady Bulldogs. However, this time a
TranSouth Tournament Title was on the line. The 88-82 victory gave
Freed-Hardeman and Head Coach Dale Neal their second straight
championship.
The Lady Lions have now won the TranSouth
Regular Season and Tournament Championships each of the last two
seasons.
The All-TranSouth Tournament team was also
announced Monday night. Leading the way with MVP honors was
Freed-Hardemans Ashlee Robertson, 5-foot-6-inch junior guard
from Collinwood, Tennessee. She was joined on the all-tournament
team by teammate Hannah Wood, a 6-foot-1-inch junior post from
Glen, Mississippi.
Also making the team was Unions Stephanie
Clark, a 6-foot-2-inch senior forward from Artesia, New Mexico and
Jennifer Henson, a 5-foot-6-inch junior guard from Bradford,
Tennessee. Others making the team were Cumberlands Renae
Williams, a 5-foot-11-inch freshman forward from Oak Ridge,
Tennessee, and Treveccas Jackie Weaver, a 6-foot-5-inch
junior center from Nashville, Tennessee.
