#1 Trojans Are Eliminated By #2 Union

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The No. 2 Union Bulldogs (40-12-1) defeated
the No. 1 Trevecca Trojans (37-7) with a final score of 5-3 and
the Bulldogs advance to face Martin Methodist for the TranSouth
Conference Softball Tournament Championship game.
The Trojans earned an early 1-0 in the top of
the first inning and kept their lead until the third inning. In
the bottom of the third Union scored two runs off of two hits and
took a lead of 2-1. Trevecca scored their last two runs in the top
of the fourth inning to retake the lead 3-2. Danielle Pope (14)
hit a two run homer to take the lead over the Trojans in the
bottom of the fifth inning. Jessica Kee (8) followed suit with a
solo homer making the score 5-3.
Taking the loss on the mound for the Trojans
was Hollie Shane (29-5) with Maria Trapani at the plate. Earning
the win for Union was Jackie Cliff (11-5) with Kristen Kolter at
the plate. Brandy Miller, Trojans center fielder, went
3-for-3 on the day with an RBI and a double. Also for the Trojans,
Laura Redmon went 2-for-3 and had a RBI. As a team the Trojans had
three runs off nine hits and committed three errors. The Bulldogs
had five runs off of seven hits and committed one error.
With the loss, the No. 1 Trevecca Trojans are
eliminated from the TranSouth Conference Tournament.
#2 Union Extends Tournament With 10-4 Win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The #2 Union Bulldogs 41-13-1 took on the
#3 Martin Methodist RedHawks 43-10 for the TranSouth Tournament
Championship.
The game remained scoreless until the Bulldogs
scored a run and took the lead for good in the second inning.
Union scored again in the third when Kristen Kolter hit a double
to deep right field which allowed two runs to score. Danielle Pope
hit a three run homer (15) over the right field fence which gave
the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead. Union scored four more runs in the fifth
inning making the score 10-0. Martin Methodist scored a run in the
sixth and three more in the seventh, but couldnt close the
gap leaving the score 10-4 in favor of the Bulldogs.
For the Bulldogs, Kim Fuchs was 2-for-3 on the
game with a run, a RBI, and a double. Also for Union, Amy Chatham
was 2-for-3 with a run and a double. Earning the win for the
Bulldogs was Mary Kosco (23-9) with Kylie Sullivan at home plate.
Taking the loss for the RedHawks was Dara May (16-6) with Kristin
Pitts at the catcher position. As a team the Union Bulldogs scored
10 runs off of 12 hits while only committing an error. The Martin
Methodist RedHawks scored four runs off of 10 hits while
committing three errors.

Game two of the TranSouth Tournament
Championship remained scoreless until the fourth inning. The
RedHawks drove a run in with a double to deep left-center hit by
Kristin Pitts. The RedHawks scored again in the fifth and the
sixth innings to make their lead 3-0. Rachel Phillips hit a double
deep down the left field line allowing for Kristen Morgan to score
making the RedHawks lead 4-0 in the top of the seventh. The Union
Bulldogs scored two runs, but couldnt gain the lead.
Taking the win for Martin Methodist was Liz
Adams (14-2) with Kristin Pitts behind the plate. Taking the loss
for the Bulldogs was Mary Kosco (23-10) with Kylie Sullivan behind
the plate. As a team the Bulldogs scored two runs off of six hits
and committed three errors. The RedHawks scored four runs off of
six hits and committed no errors.
The Martin Methodist RedHawks are the TranSouth
Tournament Champions with a record of 43-11.
